It’s been a long Friday, but we’re pushing through to get more content out there. The requests for videos have been rolling in non-stop, with notifications going off every few seconds on Christian’s phone across all our platforms. If you’re not following us everywhere yet, make sure you do!
Now, let’s dive into these two iconic 3+3 square body crew cabs. The blue one has been a big project, and for those asking, it’s basically sold. The buyer wants it perfect, and we’re making sure every detail is flawless. It’s a six-figure truck, so perfection takes time, but the buyer has been incredibly patient.
On the other hand, the red and white crew cab is about to undergo some serious upgrades. We teased this morning about some changes, and yes, we know the current wheels don’t match the look you’d expect for this truck. That’s why we’re upgrading it to a 12-inch lift kit with crossover steering and a custom-built crossover track bar system. It’s getting Davis Off-Road custom wheels, possibly one of the first to debut on our new wheel stand. We’re also adding power steps, and while we’re still deciding on the tank system, the transformation is well underway.
Daniel and I did a quick walk-around earlier, and with a crew cab like this, the hardest part—paint and bodywork—is already done. Next up, we’re fixing the AC, cleaning up the little details, and making sure everything is functional. This truck is over 40 years old, so some parts like the door mechanisms need attention. We’ll be lubing, greasing, and adjusting as necessary to ensure everything is perfect.
This red and white crew cab has been extremely popular—probably our most viewed vehicle. And with good reason: the floor pans are as shiny as the exterior. The truck has power steps with LED lights, and the steering is so smooth that it’s like turning with just a finger. With the gas tanks hidden under the belly, the fuel system is safe and out of the way, unlike older designs where side impacts could be dangerous.
The truck will sit on a full 12-inch kit, but we have some flexibility to adjust the lift if needed. For those of you who didn’t like the current wheels, don’t worry—we’re switching them out for something more fitting, possibly 40-inch tires on 16-wide wheels, maybe even beadlock. We’ll match the interior with the same plaid headliner and clean up the door panels for a vintage yet fresh look.
We’ll also be swapping the grill back to a factory style, cleaning up the chassis, and adding our signature texture lining underneath. The brake lines will be tidied up, and it already has high-quality Fox shocks. Some over-the-top features, like the Fox reservoirs, aren’t necessary but add to the overall build quality.
The beauty of this truck is that, while we’ll customize it with upgrades, it still retains that 80s era-correct vibe, with fully functional gauges and ice-cold AC. The big block engine is fuel-injected with a Sniper EFI system, and we’ll add cab lights and other small touches to bring it all together.
Building trucks like this isn’t easy or cheap, especially with the attention to detail that we put into every project. A high-quality crew cab like this one can easily cost over $100,000 by the time it’s done, and finding a solid platform to start with is key. It’s not just about slapping on a new paint job—restoring rockers, cab corners, and body panels is a big investment, and that’s if you can even find the right truck to begin with.
For those interested in the wheel and tire setup currently on the red and white truck, yes, they’re available for sale. They’re 24-inch forged wheels with 385/50 tires, and we can also include the ring lights for those who want the full look.
Finally, let’s talk steering. The crossover steering system we’ve been using for years makes all the difference, especially on a lifted truck. It stabilizes the front end, eliminates bump steer, and gives the truck a smooth, controlled ride. We’ve got this down to a science with Daniel and Brian’s setup, and it’s what we rely on for all our builds.
In the future, we’re also working on a copper-colored crew cab project, which is already generating buzz. The demand for these custom square body trucks is huge, and we’re excited to see what’s next.
