All righty fellas here’s an honest review for you from an owner of both vehicles. I ain’t no sales guy, i’m a month short of a year of ownership. On that one and a whopping two-day ownership on this one. I only got 500 miles, but the fact that I just got out of that truck and into this truck uh it’d be the best time to compare them and what jumps on me. It’S not going to be a thorough comparison.
It’S just going to be hey. What comes with these trucks? What first impressions and kind of the feelings you have it’s just if you could call it that as a truck guy, I love my trucks and I’m I’ve owned a bunch of Rams and uh three Fords. That’S all I’ve owned, but this one has really uh we’ll talk about it later. Let’S, what I’m trying to say this one has really uh made me sad, i’m going to let go of this one, not because it’s a bad truck, but the future for the company is with these new engines and transmission.
So that’s why I’m investing time into it. So what jumps out to me guys? This is pretty much a a party truck, and this is a workhorse. I love it. I love how it feels driving down the road um it it has.
This tractor feel to it. It just wants to pull and wants to slow you down with an engine and it just just wants to get to work and get stuff done, and hence you know that’s what I use pickups for. So that’s why I’m more um leaning towards the Ram, but this is a party house. This thing just wants to party, not that it can’t work and not that this thing can’t party just genuinely when you get in it. You know it carries its weight as one of my buddies said, and it’s just it’s always ready to play. It’S always ready to haul tail, and it’s and it’s it. It was a joy. I used it as a if you call it a crutch. You know I. I knew that I wasn’t going to hold on to this truck for very long unless Ram really screwed it up in 25, then I’ll just move my fleet to Fords, but right now I’m keeping my fingers crossed because Cummins is is the workhorse and the Ford is The party so anyways not to leave you guys hanging on this Ford.
I am sad to let it go i’m going to own it for another, maybe 2 three days and then uh. We pretty much got a deal sealed on it. Uh got a strong offer on it, and so I’m going to let it go. There’S no point in having two of these when I need to really uh drive the wheels off of this one and catch up on all that stuff, so making it clear why I’m letting this one go. It’S not a bad truck, i’m actually sad hasn’t been cleaned or detailed, but roughly all my personal belongings have been pulled out of it.
I’M going to miss this truck man, i’m really going to miss this truck, because it’s been so good to me. You know I’ve trash talk Ford so much when I was younger and then, when Ram dropped, the ball I kind of glimpsed that a GMC did not work out for me, not that it’s a bad truck. It’S just not the truck for what I need. Remember ain’t! No, there ain’t one size that fits at all, just GMC, isn’t Chevy GMC, isn’t what I need.
So I went from GMC to a Ford. My 23 longtime viewers know. I was very impressed with my 23. I I I really liked it there’s a couple things. I didn’t like was the transmission tuning and uh not a whole lot of gripes, but there’s a couple things. This one has impressed me, and I am sad to let this one go, but the future for my company is with the other vehicles, so we’ll keep pushing them. I have a surprise for you. I am I’m anxious to to announce it, but I’ll give it another. Few more weeks, um, it’s a surprise with another truck coming to us anyways. So if you’re thinking about buying a Ford and you’re, not working your truck day in and day out, just buy the Ford it It’s such a good truck.
The only reason I’m telling you not to just dive into the truck as a work truck is, if you’re, towing heavy, and I mean if you’re, towing, heavy you uh you’re, that exhaust brake is really going to screw with you, as a professional driver. Give me a sec guys, cuz, you don’t know what to expect with it. On the flats around town on the interstate, you have your cruise on downhills. It won’t. Let you kill yourself or use the you won’t need to use the runoff ramp right.
It’Ll just help. You maintain speed that will slow you down so to not to make this video very long. A Ram guy absolutely loves this Ford, but this Ford is not the future for his company. At this point or this, you know 500 horse 1200 torque. It is not the future for his company, it’s solely because of the exhaust brakes right now.
Yeah, it’s a mess under the hood, that’s less of a mess but anyways. This truck has given me nothing but good experience. That’S not left me stranded it. I know you guys are screaming off your seats, 10-speed 10-speed. I get it guys, they had issues um.Do I think this 10-speed is stronger than that 8-speed? No, I I don’t think that way, just by the sole feeling, this one’s very refined and fine-tuned it. It gives you like this SUV feel to it very, very refined, smooth bangs out those gears, nothing but good things to say about this 24. It gives you like a confidence inspiring shifts. You know there’s there’s girth to every gear change, it’s like a heavy torque converter and a proper Allison with a heavy torque converter.
I think that’s the best way I could describe that um. This engine has not burnt oil, which really surprised me. I just put it on a 5,000 mi interval. Uh change most of the miles were highway miles, so that definitely helps but um. This truck actually had it pretty easy.
It didn’t tow crazy loads uh multiple times. You know I had a few heavy loads, but it wasn’t like a consistent thing. This truck mostly did lighter loads, it’s just just what the projects demanded and anyways. So yes, yes, it’s pretty uh messy under here, but once you understand – and you know the weaknesses of them, you you could work with it. I could definitely keep this truck running for 300,000.
If I had to you know, address few issues. I’Ve said it before. You know 100,000 miles, replace all this junk and commotion going on. You know something like this. I probably wouldn’t replace it with copper or excuse me with metal fittings or anything.I would just put a new one. Every 100,000 um. These fittings, like I said I’ll, just put the brass fittings or whatever they sell those those TE’s and forget about it right hoses are good, it’s more of a year in a cycle thing i I leave those hoses for at least 5 years, they’re, fine, but janky Stuff, like that, probably every 100,000, I throw a new one on there. I heard that these these guys blow up on them. U, obviously this thing is fairly new, never experienced it, but I I definitely uh uh address that i’m talking about.
If I’m going to keep it running for 300,000, if I were to keep it running for 300,000, I would address that just just from previous experience and uh what people are are saying about them and then I would do the fuel pump and I just keep running This thing, absolutely if I had no need to to keep researching or should I say, planning the future of my company as far as hot shoting goes it’d be hard to get me out of this Ford man. I really impress I’m really loving it. Yes, I absolutely hate it and it pisses me off when that exhaust brake doesn’t kick in when it has to, but that’s just nature of the beast um. I had kind of a couple weird instances and I think that’s why it doesn’t do it around town. I had it locked in sixth gear and I was hauling a heavy load manual, locked sixth gear and a low RPM, and it builds good boost.
But I got off the throttle and I was coming to a stop and it kind of like it struggled to idle and it kind of like bucked in a way like it struggled to idle. So I think the blowoff valve just doesn’t have enough. It couldn’t evacuate the pressure, something happened, it just kind of sat there and stumbled at idle. I had to get on the throttle a few times to to clear it through, and it did that twice. So you know that was first one’s 3 months ago.
Second, one’s probably about a month ago, it no fuel issues, no oil issues, but I think there’s something going on there. That’S why Ford doesn’t give you that low, exhausting um at a high stress level, but then, if you’re, you know you’re you’re going uh downhill at a very sharp angle. It will run the exhaust brake, but that’s high RPM lower RPM. It does not run high uh. It doesn’t restrict much so I think that’s what that one comes down to this, This on the other hand’s, a new animal, i’m very excited about the engine transmission uh, the engine’s too new, i’m eager to find out test it and everything, but the engine’s.Just too new, my gut feeling my approach is: this has a lot more potential than what they’re pushing out of it, just seeing uh what they’re able to push out of the old one old engine. This is a brand new engine guys i mean there’s very small percentage of the same engine here. This just just call it a day and call it a brand new engine um this this engine has huge potential um, so yeah. I could see this thing 550 horse surpassing 1,200 torque in the next couple years, two three years – i I expect it well, maybe not 550, but I could see it touching the 500 mark and surpassing the torques, but the way the efficiency and the way it delivers. The power is, is a whole different animal.
That’S what I’m excited about. We know that transmission can handle some weight. So I’m not worried about that. This truck has something going on with the with the crank positioning sensor. I’M taking a stab at it now doesn’t throw any check engine lights, it kind of starts up as it pleases right now, I’m going to get in it and I’mma fire it up.
It could be like half crank and fires up or it could be a half fire and then it keeps cranking and then fires up rest of the way. So hopefully you guys can hear me hear that stumbled and fired up and and it did it real, quick. Sometimes it’ll sit there and crank for a while um, that’s just what it is. I deflated the tires a little bit and it’s Matt. So that’s that so the way this thing runs idles or drives idles and and shifts it it.
It’S a mini tractor all day. Every day and every time I drive it, it puts a grin on my face because this this boy just wants to work. That’S all it wants to do um. You know this. Guy just wants to run away from you. This guy just wants to go, slow and steady. You put your throttle into it or you put the throttle into it’ll take off, but it’s it’s not light on its feet. Like this thing is this thing will move you put the throttle down? You know quarter it’ll, move this thing at a quarter is scooting scooting and where this thing at an eighth is kind of bobbing around and moving around this thing at an eighth is kind of taking off from you. So that’s the difference, um as an owner.
It depends on your needs and use, as I said, I’m a I I like horsepower. I like performance, but it needs to be reliable and this engine has proven itself. Yes, they all have their issues but uh to work a truck day in and day out. I’M still leaning towards the Cumins, so you guys know my stories about 22s now, as far as the cab I’ve owned both vehicles. Yes, that cab.
Is it just it’s better package and – and I’ve said this in my other videos – Ford is very conservative in the way they approach it and these fatty seats are still u they still leave plenty of room. You know the it feels wider, it feels longer than the regular. I know it definitely has a lot more room than with the Ram once it’s all put together. You know they seem like they cleaned up the dash on it kind of packed it in a little. This is my favorite Ford.
I’Ve test drove ever well, I’ve only owned three of them. I owned a 99 6speed 73 uh 23 in the in this one. We did run a 17 in our fleet. Till 300,000 brother brother-in-law of mine ran it when we used to work together, anyways guys so to to give you a really quick rundown. If you’re going to work your truck day in and day out, you need a workhog as long as they keep their stuff together.
Hands down the Cumins if, if one size fits at all and you’re, trying to you’re just trying to haul your RV and your boat, take a good look at the V8s, either the GMC or the Ford. I lean towards the Ford because I work my trucks, but if I was the average you know weekend warrior hauling, boats, toys and stuff. I would take a good look at the GMC, but I love the cab of this Ford hands down far more well packaged than the GMC and the seats. The seats is a big, no, no for me on the GMC anyways guys wish. I could tell you something more than that, but I got to wrap up this video as an owner it’s hard, because that has a lot of pluses.
So does this you just got to figure out what suits you best all around for a father of four kids. The Mega Cab is a better choice. You know. Last night we went out of town to visit family mother-in-law’s birthday. It looks like they cleaned up a little bit, but you know reclined the seats they had their pillows and blankets and uh.
They were out for the ride. Um anyways guys. That’S that, as always, may the good Lord bless you may almighty fine Dan. Let me know how to get rid of those beeps. Those are super, annoying no they’re, not the same as the 24.
So let me know: ciao bye,
