So we have some exciting stuff coming from RAM and certainly has my juices flowing it’s funny. What happens when a customer base all of a sudden dries up and it’s not buying your overpriced six-cylinder engine? I just think stellantis may have completely misjudged the American North American Truck market and they’re having to really walk back a lot of those earlier decisions.welcome back, I’m Alex and this story dropped right into my wheelhouse. About a month ago, we talked about the high likelihood of the 5.
L Hemi, making a return to the Ram 1500 lineup, which I thought was pretty freaking awesome. But now things are getting turned up to 11 because apparently the TRX, The Supercharged V8 engine is supposed to be making its way back into production and into these Ram 1500 trucks as soon as 2026, with more horsepower close to 800 horsepower is the rumored spec. Now Mopar Insider who, as I mentioned before, they tend not to miss, they have also confirmed with their own sources that we are going to be seeing a Supercharged V8 coming back into this Ram, 1500 lineup, which is pretty exciting next and what really hits home. It is said that the 6.4 L Hemi is going to be making its way into the Ram 1500 lineup and that’s what what I really want to dig into today, but first fellas we are encroaching on 100,000 subscribers, absolutely wild.So if you do like videos like this, please consider subscribing, because it really helps me out and it helps the channel out, love you. There are some pretty great sources reporting on this as well: Motor Trend, Car and Driver, our good friends over at tfl truck I’ll link their video down below. So I’m not just blowing smoke up your pretty bums here. Apparently, the source comes from a leaked screenshot from a Wisconsin Chrysler dealership, which was discussing some pretty juicy details about the Ram trucks, RAM and stellantis. They have said no comment, but there does seem to be some truth to this alleged screenshot, including the dropping of the wagon ear pricing, which we know to be true.
The other big thing is the supercharge TRX engine coming back to these Ram 1500 trucks. We know that Mopar Insider confirm with their own own sourcing, that that is apparently to be true, so we have to take it with a grain of salt, but it does make some sense to see the 64 Hemi in the Ram 1500 lineup. I think, with all this information now dropping, we can confirm that there is going to be some sort of Hemi V8 engine in the Ram 1500 platform moving forward. But looking back it’s kind of like what the hell was stantis thinking did they really think that dropping the legendary Hemi V8 was going to attract act, new buyers to the segment for me personally, and I’ve told you guys this before it is, in my opinion that Stellantis Ram, they should have done everything in their power to keep the V8 engine rolling off the production line, okay, so the 64 Hemi, as many of you fine viewers, know I actually own this engine, but there are actually two different variants of the 64 engine. There’S the truck version, which is this one right here: putting down 410 horsepower 429 pound feet of torque, but there’s also the K, SUV version of the 64 Hemi or the 392 Hemi, and that thing is putting down a lot more power.485 horsepower 475 lb feet of torque. So I guess the question is: if we’re going to see a Hemi in a Ram 1500 which engine is it going to be because, despite both engines, sharing a 6.4 L displacement mechanically, they are two pretty different engines. The truck version of the 64 hems in the Ram 2500 3500 trucks is a little bit detuned meant to deal with Heavy Duty Cycles and to be underload while still being somewhat reliable. These engines have different cam shafts different intakes, as well as a lowered compression ratio.
All with the idea of producing greater low-end power, while maybe sacrificing some of that topend performance, these truck engines also have different heads with upgraded aluminum, which is going to be better at dealing with heat. When these things are running on heavy duty cycle, something like T that all sounds great. Everyone loves a good, strong, beefy big displacement, V8 engine in a pickup truck, but I think the power figures are too low. Maybe me and you we understand that having a strong engine there’s there’s value to that, but I think a lot of buyers, especially in the 1500 truck segment. They look at the spec sheet and go.Why would I pay extra money and have my fuel economy significantly reduced for an extra 15 horsepower, whereas the carent SUV version of the 64 Hemi pushing 485 horsepower an extra 90 horsepower might be a little bit more appealing and drive more sales and looking across a Segment at the competing engine most likely GM’s 6.2 L V8 is mustering up more power. 420 horsepower 460 lb feet of torque out of a smaller displacement. V8, so it might seem like a no-brainer that Ram would drop the car version or the 392 V engine pushing almost 500 horsepower to blow every other V8 out of the water in the segment. But I don’t think so.
Firstly, that engine is built to have incredible topend performance. It reaches its 485 Peak horsepower at 6,100 RPM. So yes sure, maybe at the drag strip you’ll blow the doors off a silver Auto, but when it comes to heat resistance, low-end grunt as well as long Duty Cycles, Maybe at GM 6
2 L is the better engine option in a pickup truck application. Secondly, the truck versions of the 6.4 L Hemi are still in production and rolling off the factory lines, as we speak right now, whereas that 392 V8 engine its production has been stopped. So, for all of those reasons to me, it makes the most sense if we’re going to see a 64 Hemi in the Ram 1500 lineup. It is going to be this truck version right here. What I think might happen is Ram, May tweak this 64 Hemi to put out a little bit more power. I think they can get away with pushing this Beast a little bit more in the Ram 1500 lineup, because in a 1500 truck it’s not expected to be able to take as much abuse as a 2500 3500 HD truck is in that HD truck segment. These engines are truly meant to be worked day in and day out and not necessar neily have problems and when you have a slightly detuned slower, revving bigger displacement, V8 engine putting out a little bit less power, you’re more likely to have some better longevity, whereas the 1500, trucks – just don’t need to be held to the same standards.
I just don’t see where Ram could go wrong, offering the 64 Hemi in a Ram 1500. They already make the engine they’ve spent the money on research and development, tooling and it’ll hook up directly to the ZF 8-speed transmission, which, by the way, is barnon the best Transmission in the 1500 segment, and it’s not even close, and ultimately it’s just going to give The buyers more option, which I never think is a bad thing, for example, in the Ram 1500 trucks, if someone’s looking for fuel efficiency, have the longstanding 3.6 L penar. Someone wants the newest and greatest flashy fun, yet powerful, twin turbocharge engine. You have the 3 l hurricane. If someone wants a good Old, Reliable V8 engine in a pickup truck, you got the 57 Hemi. Oh, that sounds so good. And if someone wants the Big, Daddy, topper, the big displacement powerful engine without having to go for a twin turbocharge setup, you have the 64 Hemi and I think it covers a lot of bases, bases bases bases. I think it covers a lot of ground in terms of options for what people are looking for in a 1500 truck and in my opinion, a 1500 truck is the biggest tool in the toolbox, and people use them for a ton of different things, so giving people Options in the 1500 segment, I think, is very important that way: you’re no longer keyho holding your customer base into either one of two engines and I think, it’ll bring a more favorable view back to the Ram trucks, because I know when I heard personally that stellantis Was canceling the 57 Hemi? I was kind of like what and I don’t think I was alone, so we have some exciting stuff coming from RAM and certainly has my juices flowing it’s funny.
What happens when a customer base all of a sudden dries up and it’s not buying your overpriced six-cylinder engine? I just think stellantis may have completely misjudged the American North American Truck market and they’re having to really walk back a lot of those earlier decisions. I’Ll try and keep you guys informed as best I can when it comes to these Ram 1500 trucks I might even put in order in on a V8 engine in a ram truck we’ll have to see, but I just want to quickly mention that we are moving Shops, the shop has been great. It’S too small, though the new shop is going to come with a lift, as well as a lot more space to play with and I’ll give everyone a tour in a couple weeks here. Another thing I want to chat about is the potential of having a revised 5.L Hemi, put down a little bit more power. Currently, it’s putting down 395 horsepower 410 lb feet of torque and it’s been doing so essentially since 2009. So we’re coming on to 16 17 years of basically the same power figures and, to be honest, I actually still think that’s somewhat competitive in the segment still. But the fellas over at tfl. They seem to think that if the 5.
L Hemi is indeed coming back, it needs to come back with more power to be competitive in the segment first. They mentioned that Atlantis would probably have to work with lowering the emissions or tweak the engine somehow to produce less emissions. And, if you remember, that’s the original reason why stellantis said they were canceling. The 57 Hemi, which I sort of find a little bit hard to believe because 57 Hemi is a port injection. Naturally, aspirated gasoline engine by all means a relatively clean burning engine where something like a 3 l twin turbocharged hurricane engine, which is direct injection, we know, produces a lot more particulate matter.
So, who knows about the emission side, but tfl seems to strongly believe that the 57 Hemi will be putting out more power in 2026 when it comes back to the lineup. Now, Mopar Insider, on the other hand, about a month ago, said that the 57 Hemi would not be receiving any updates, and this is because they claimed that the reintroduction of the 57 Hemi was more about bringing the cost of these trucks down. Making the price tag of these trucks more competitive reason being is because the 57 Hemi is a much cheaper engine to produce than the 3 l hurricane. So, ideally, that cost savings could be passed down to the consumer, making the Ram 1500 more competitive in terms of pricing. So if Ram was to update the 57 Hemi or introduce a new generation like tfl, is sort of suspecting that could bring the price of the engine up and that would sort of defeat the purpose originally of bringing the 57 Hemi back into the Ram 1500 trucks.
According to Mopar Insider, so there is some conflicting stories there. I personally think we’re just going to see the old 57 Hemi back in these trucks. 395 horsepower 410 lb feet of torque. Like I said personally, I think that is still a very competitive power figure. Another little tidbit of information from this so-called screenshot leak is, we might see a diesel powered Power Wagon, which is for another conversation on another day, because that is very exciting, but certainly it seems like there’s some Life coming back to these Ram trucks.Anyways guys. Let me know what you think about the potential of having a 64 Hemi in the Ram 1500 trucks. I think it’s pretty cool, always like hearing what you guys have to say if you did like the video, don’t forget to leave that thumbs up and if you like, cool stuff, like this, don’t forget to subscribe. We’D love to have you on board anyways enough of me, we’ll see in the next freaking article.
